In a recent case coming out of Philadelphia results in the testing of the city halls courtroom for lead exposure. Due to a recent case of lead poisoning, the parent decided to test different locations in the building that they believed caused the poisoning. They tested a total of 7 different locations inside the building and found all 7 were positive for lead. Results did, in fact, show the lead paint and its peeling could have caused the exposure to children increases the risk for poisoning. Now the city hall encourages parents to wash their children’s hands if they come in contact with painted surfaces.

  1. This is terrifying since paint is supposed to be lead free. I'm curious how old the paint was on these walls. On the bright side, if that was one of the major contributors to the lead levels in children then removing the paint should help to reduce levels. Unfortunately, some damage is not irreversible.
