10.2 MSDS and ToxNet

I work at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California.  The health risks associated with the chemicals include possible exposure to pesticides and toxic chemicals including latex specifically bisphenol-A or BPA. The chemical is not a carcinogen, the organization avoids purchasing products that contain carcinogens and reproductive toxicants listed by the State of California under Proposition 65. While working with the chemical it is always important to use gloves and protective face masks. Kaiser is working to purchase baby bottles that are free of the BPA chemical. Fortunately, we do not work with any chemicals that relate to bisphenol specifically, therefore, we do not worry about exposure. We are always taught to be alert and notify our manager of any hazardous materials etc.
Some dangers associated with the chemical include allergies to the chemical and more serious effects include miscarriages in women, nose and throat infection from workers exposures and thyroid dysfunction.  The MSDS was an adequate tool for the worker, however, without proper knowledge and understanding, it can be difficult for someone to follow along.
