Health News Week #6
Residents of the city of Vallejo are worried about the pollution from a factory that is trying to be built in a prod eminently black community. Its risks for long-term health effects are a concern and residents are worried about the replacement of an old former flour mill to be replaced with a cement factory. Although some agree, much more disagree because of the location and nearby residents that continue to be affected by this and risk their exposure to long-term effects.
I'm curious what precautions have been or would be taken of this factory is successful at being established as intended. Factories are notorious for contributing to environemntal pollutants. As we have learned it doesn't take much before the pollutant spreads and effects our populations, especially those living nearby. Given the general pattern of low income and minorty communities and thier environment's health, it would be awful to knowingly intoduce another source of contaminate even when their effects are known.
