In my own workplace, there are a variety of workplace issues or hazards that affect everyone. I currently work at Kaiser Permanente and although my primary work site is not in the actual hospital but in a smaller scale medical facility, it is important to look for other factors that may put us at risk of other health risks. Some chemical exposures include the different cleaning supplies that are used to clean our work areas and medical supplies. By wearing gloves everything we use a sanitizer wipe is important to help prevent the harm some chemicals may cause on the skin. Biologically, I  am exposed to the different pathogens that are being transmitted when someone comes in that is sick. Individuals cough and without realizing they transmit the illness to other when they do not cover their mouths, and it is important for this case to wear a face mask when you are sick and always wash your hands.  Some ergonomic issues, for example, is the different levels of desks at which we sit that may not be suitable for our posture that may cause harm to our eye-sight, wrist posture and feet placement. Assuring we are calling in our desks and equipment are fit for us individually is important and reporting any necessary changes as needed.
Some barriers to workers that may exercise their right to a healthy and safe workplace might be fear of repercussions to reporting any type of injury in the workplace. At times believing they will get in trouble of getting hurt in the first place and managers or supervisors might be afraid of their consequence for the monitoring the situation from their boss.
