9.3 Green Chemistry

Before today, I had never heard of green chemistry. My initial thought, why haven’t we been doing this all along? The 12 principles of green chemistry are astonishing and not very surprising, I am actually quite impressed with the outline and principles that have been developed. The principles can and will help reduce the amount of waste and the number of ocean animals that are being harmed and killed due to the plastic that really never goes away. Besides the general recycling of paper and plastic. I have not seen anything beyond to further the prevention of waste. The upsetting part is that as humans we don’t always do our part in assuring the lives of ocean animals and overall pollution.
