The vanishing of bees has become a more serious issue in the past couple of years. Of course, we all know bees can sting you and cause harm, but many do not know the benefits of bees in regards to pollinating and honey production. It is astonishing to know how much a queen bee really does and the purposes to the queen. Because of the great agriculture the United States produces in particular California bees are crucial for growth and in the process of pollution among plants and flowers. The possibility of extinction is very scary and many can agree that it would ultimately mean long-term struggles as humans.

In the movie “Dirt” I  learned so much about the way us humans are destroying dirt. I  always thought of dirt as being something on the floor we don’t pay much attention too, I never realized how much it contributes to the earth. I  was surprised to learn in the film, how dirt in the back of a pickup truck that was sitting there for months turned into a garden with just the simple natural aspects of the earth such as water and mold. I  was also surprised to learn some of the different traditions they use dirt for, for example, the passing of a loved one as shown by a family in New Mexico. Although many of us are not aware of the possible consequences that may happen due to the earth not being taken care of, we should bring more awareness to this issue as it affects each of us on a daily basis.

Yuba County has an animal farm but no dairy farms. Although I was not aware of this I am also not surprised, my surrounding community is full of agriculture and fields. I  currently do not compost nor have I ever. I  would definitely consider composting after the dirt video and learning about the different benefits it has.
