Is California’s Drought Returning?
Based on an article published by “Environmental Health News”, Californias water supply has again dropped significantly this year putting the state at a high risk once again. It is at about 13.6 inches and water is at 2.6 inches that is about 14% of the average. Although there has been no warning yet, urban cities will have to cut down their water use to help with the water shortage. Although it seems to be stable now, they hope the warm temperatures coming to northern California will help melt some of the snow to help with the water levels in the state.
This is very sad since California JUST got out of the drought. Luckily we know that our conservation efforts got us through the last drought and so we know what to do if it happens again. Unfortunately, either we are using unsustainable water practices and/or the weather is off due to global warming, so this might be our new "normal". I hope we have enough snow to sustain us through the summer!
