7.8 Topic of Interest

An interesting topic of interest for my literature review is the use of personal cosmetics and their risk factors and ingredients. I became interested in this topic after completing a previous assignment focusing on researching our own products we use. Utilizing the EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database, I was able to look through all personal care products to search through all the ingredients and find those that are safest for use to use on our skin. This website is using its information to help individuals such as myself raise awareness for a potential health hazard for over 74,063 products and thousands of different brands. They also utilize different data sources such as the California EPA (California Environmental Protection Agency and the National Toxicology Program.
