M5.2 Blog about the public health importance of safe drinking-water
Water is a component many of us take for granted on an everyday basis. We use it throughout our day without realizing we are. The Clean Water Act had regulators reduce pollution by 1985 for better and cleaner water. The water act purpose was to reduce the amount of pollution around the earth to help but unfortunately both presidents during this era believe the act to be too expensive. The Chicago river at the time only held 10 species and now holds over 75 species, with the pass of the act many cites were able to make similar improvements by reducing the amount of garbage in the sewage that then goes into the river. The Clean Water Act is an important health issue because it helped control significantly the amount of garbage going into our water now. Some are required to submit permissions when dumping. The significant drops in available drinking water now are concerning as we have a seen in the past centuries they ice continues to melt and there seems to be less drinkable water. The act has helped with the shortage issue as well but as the population continues to grow three times as much and eventually there will not be enough. It is important and crucial to continue to follow these regulations to help our environmental water system to continue to be able to have our morning coffee.
